We work to improve the State of Colorado’s mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery efforts for cultural and historic resources

What is the CHR Task Force?

Working together, the cultural and historic resource and emergency management communities in Colorado organize and strengthen our state's assets and capabilities. We do this by:

  • Building relationships between the emergency management and cultural and historic resource communities

  • Advocating for the incorporation of cultural and historic resources into state and local plans

  • Responding to disasters as appropriate, reaching out to cultural organizations or responding to their inquiries

  • Working with State Emergency Operations Center as requested and aiding in Disaster Recovery.

  • Drawing upon existing resources and subject matter expertise to provide assistance to cultural and historic resources

Mission Statement

The whole community approach advocates that communities leverage all available resources to effectively prepare for and manage disasters. Together, emergency management personnel and the Cultural & Historic Resource community can organize and strengthen CHR assets and capabilities. The Cultural and Historic Resources (CHR) Task Force advocates for the incorporation of cultural and historic resources into the State of Colorado’s mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery efforts prior to, during, and after a disaster event
